Meet Macee Binns – A Fearless Creator: Pushing Boundaries & Captivating Audiences
Macee Binns is a multifaceted artist with years of experience working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, she parted ways with her Southern roots and moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to make her mark on the entertainment industry. While living in Hollywood, she’s earned a stellar reputation as an award-winning writer and casting director, with a diverse portfolio of work in film, television, stage productions, commercials, print campaigns, live events, and viral content.
Before stepping behind the scenes, Macee achieved on-screen success, acting in the cult films FDR: American Badass!, American Ultra, and Miles Away. She also graced the small screen, landing roles in series like 2 Broke Girls, Men of a Certain Age, Man Up, The Doctors, and Luck. She showcased her flair for comedy, appearing in a sketch alongside Andy Samberg on the TV show Comedy Bang! Bang!. As a fan of all things mysterious, Macee also explored the world of the unexplained when she appeared in multiple episodes of The History Channel’s Hangar 1: The UFO Files, which climbed into Netflix’s Top 10.

As a casting director, Macee is known for her ability to connect with talent on a deep, authentic level—eliciting strong, nuanced performances. Over the past eight years, she has brought more than 300 commercials, films, reality shows, documentaries, music videos, game shows, live events, and print campaigns to life for global brands like Marc Jacobs, Hyundai, Netflix, Crayola, Nike, Apple, H&M, Vice, Starbucks, and Disney.
Macee began her casting career at Tiffany Company Casting in 2018, where she quickly stood out for her exceptional work on the high-profile Microsoft Xbox “We All Win” and Mastercard “True Name” Super Bowl campaigns—both of which earned prestigious Cannes Lions Grand Prix awards for their groundbreaking narratives. In recognition of her accomplishments, Macee was invited to join the Commercial Casting Directors Association of Los Angeles—further solidifying her status among Hollywood’s top casting directors.
A New Chapter: Black Sheep Casting
In 2024, Macee took the leap into entrepreneurship by co-founding Black Sheep Casting with her longtime partners Fernanda Chaves and Mercedes Manning. Their company’s mission is to champion diversity, authenticity, and artistry by uncovering bold, raw talent while bringing unique creative visions to life. Black Sheep Casting has already made a powerful impact on the scene, with work featured during the Super Bowl and at the Cannes Film Festival—garnering multiple awards. One of their standout achievements, casting Cetaphil’s Swiftie-themed Super Bowl spot, “Game Time Glow,” which was celebrated as the Most Emotional Ad of the Night by Vogue, GQ, Time Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety. They also cast Crayola’s “Returning Creativity” documentary (#StayCreative), which was recognized in 2025 for excellence in brand integration and storytelling—earning top advertising awards from D&AD, The Clio Awards, PRWeek US, The One Show (Golden Pencil), and the ADC Awards.
Screenwriting: Daring, Unapologetic, and Award-Winning
Macee’s writing career is just as inspiring as her casting work and the area where her true passion shines. Known for developing edgy, boundary-defying narratives driven by distinctive female protagonists, her body of work spans award-winning plays, screenplays, articles, and short stories. Her standout script, Hand Twins—a fearless, female-led romantic dramedy—challenged conventions and earned 17 screenwriting accolades, including winning Best Feature Screenplay at the 2022 California Women’s Film Festival, the 2022 First Women’s Film Festival, and the 2022 Venus Community Awards. The screenplay also rose to notoriety by placing as a Semifinalist at the prestigious 2022 ScreenCraft Film Fund Feature Competition (judged by Mark Duplass). It racked up additional Semifinalist honors at the 2022 Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition, the 2021 Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, the 2021 Scriptation Showcase, and the 2022 Filmmatic Drama Screenplay Awards.
Hand Twins continued its success by earning Quarterfinalist titles at the 2024 Pitch to Page Comedy Screenwriting Contest and the 2022 Richmond International Film Festival, as well as being named a Preliminary Finalist at the 2022 Creative World Awards. It also received Official Selection recognition from numerous festivals, including the 2023 Cannes Film Awards, 2022 LA Indies Film Festival, 2022 Toronto International Women’s Film Festival, 2022 Andromeda Film Festival, 2021 Miami Indie Film Awards, and the 2021 Toronto Film & Script Awards. With this impressive festival run, Hand Twins now ranks in the top 4% of all 293,122 scripts on Coverfly.
The Pyramid Scheme: A New Screenwriting Venture
Macee recently completed her latest screenplay, The Pyramid Scheme—a daring, female ensemble revenge flick co-written with Fernanda Chaves. This gripping psychological thriller blends dark humor with horror to deliver a sharp critique of misogyny, exploring the extreme lengths scorned women will go to reclaim their power in a male-dominated world. The script has already been well received within the industry and was recently named a Semifinalist in Inktip's 2025 Pitch to Page Feature Screenwriting Contest, with winners to be announced next month. The duo is currently shopping the script, with plans to move the project into development in the coming year.
A Multifaceted Career: Playwriting, Journalism, and More
Beyond screenwriting, Macee is also a celebrated playwright, with her works gracing the stages of regional and community theaters across the U.S. In 2014, her short film script Row 28 won Best Short at the Hollywood Screenplay Contest, and its stage adaptation was later published by JAC Publishing & Promotions. Monologues from Macee’s original play Stone Cold Sober were selected by Smith & Kraus Publishers for inclusion in their popular anthology book series The Best Women’s Stage Monologues of 2017, sold at major retailers like Barnes & Noble and Target. In 2018, Heuer Publishing acquired her comedic one-act Candi With An I, which was featured in their renowned Catalog for the Performing Arts and is available through various retailers, including Amazon. Macee’s playwriting continued to flourish with the publication of her play Now Boarding and her monologue collection—including Static, Waiting, and Undressed—by Off the Wall Plays.
Macee’s passion for storytelling also extends to journalism, with years of experience working as an editorial content writer for popular media outlets including TheRichest, Ranker, and TopBuzz—where several of her articles went viral, attracting over 3 million views. She further demonstrated a flair for journalism during her two-year stint working as a General Assignment Reporter for The Canyon News in Los Angeles. In 2018, Macee was recruited by Dancing Iguana Productions to serve as a Segment Writer and Creative Producer for the hit podcast Left Unsupervised with Elizabeth Morales, available on iTunes and Spotify. Macee’s commitment to mentoring up-and-coming writers led to her serving as a Screenplay Contest Judge at SYS’s Six-Figure Film Festival during the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons, where she evaluated scripts, provided coverage, and participated in industry panels—sharing her expertise in the field of screenwriting.

In 2023, Macee launched the B!tchFest Film Festival & Screenplay Contest—an international celebration of women and LGBTQIA+ creators in film & TV. Held in the heart of Los Angeles, this groundbreaking event is redefining the narrative by proudly showcasing brilliant films and fearless scripts crafted by the most badass women and LGBTQIA+ talent in the industry. By providing a platform for recognition, awards, exposure, and promotion, B!tchFest is breaking barriers, amplifying underrepresented voices, and paving the way for a more inclusive entertainment industry.
B!tchFest's goal is simple: shattering glass ceilings—one badass minority creator at a time! Following the incredible SUCCESS of B!tchFest Season 1—which featured nearly 400 submissions, 25 winning films and screenplays across multiple categories, 67 Finalists, 77 Semifinalists, 2 winning films picked up by streaming platforms, 3 screenwriters with projects now in production, a sold-out venue, and an unforgettable, emotional festival experience—B!tchFest is set to keep rewriting the rules for many seasons to come.

Macee’s remarkable journey has attracted notable media attention throughout her career. LA Indies Independent Film Magazine named her an Up-and-Coming Hollywood Screenwriter in a feature celebrating her acclaimed screenplay Hand Twins, while VoyageLA Magazine profiled Macee as a Los Angeles Creative on the Rise, and IMDB ranked her as #26 on their list of Hot Redheaded Actresses. In January 2023, Hand Twins was honored as the Screenplay of the Month and was featured in the prestigious Cannes Film Awards Distribution List. Additionally, Bold Journey Magazine highlighted Macee’s artistic achievements in their Hollywood Creatives You Should Know series, while Canvas Rebel Magazine profiled her multifaceted career as a casting director and writer as part of their Arts & Entertainment feature.
